Non real-time rendering
Non-real time rendering enables the leveraging of limited processing power in order to obtain higher image quality. Rendering times for individual frames may vary from a few seconds to several days for complex scenes. High quality photo-realistic images can be achieved using mostly ray-tracing technology. Using photo-realistic rendering manufacturers can visualy experience new product without making real prototype. Rendering help for chosing colors and materials. Rendering is technology implemented into CAD systems that allows shaded representation of 3D model in real-time. First systems are allowing only wireframe representation of 3D model. Today’s CAD systems allow realistic representations of 3D model that can include textures of surfaces, roughness or perforations of surfaces, realistic shading that allows representation of metallic paintings, glass or liquids.
Beside CAD systems real-time rendering is widely used in software for simulations and computer games. Real time rendering in CAD systems is mostly achieved using OpenGL environment, while in computer games it is achieved using Microsoft DirectX environment. This is procedure for creating technical drawing from scratch, without 3D model. In this procedure CAD system is used as drawing board. User need to draw border and title block, all geometry elements, dimensions, and other elements of technical drawing. This procedure is usually applied in AutoCAD and similar CAD systems.
This procedure allows high level of automation in technical drawing creation process, but its require creation of 3D model in first step. Generative drafting is usually used in parametric feature-based CAD systems. CAD system allows automatic generation of drawing views and projections, section views, detail views, part list and balloons, dimensions, hole tables… It should be noted that this tasks are not fully automated and its require that CAD system user specify input parameters.
